14 years.

6. How long have you been teaching yoga?

7. Who have you trained with and where?

Jim Harrington 200hrs 2010.

8. What lead you to teaching yoga and at what point did you decide that you wanted to teach?

After practising for so long I wanted to deepen my own practice, and found that a teacher training course was a good way of doing that.

Vrksasana

9. What do you love most about teaching?

When students feel good afterwards.

10. Is there a focus in your teaching style?

I like to spend some time in Savasana and let the practice really sink in– in many classes these days it is totally rushed.

11. What do you love most about yoga?

The balance it brings to my life, and the way it can erase all that has happened in a day and transform energy – for instance anger, sadness, helplessness can all be turned into being very pro-active, accepting, or forgiving. Each time is different.

12. What is the greatest challenge you have overcome with the help of yoga?

Many years ago a friend of mine was run over in front of me by a car (crossing a road), he was seriously injured, in a coma and never the same – and I always felt guilty as it could have happened to me just as easily. I had to travel back to Taiwan where I was working, I became very depressed and found my way out of the darkness when I turned to yoga, and there was never any turning back!

13. What advice do you have for people who have never tried yoga?

Try it!

14. Do you have a regular practice?

Yes.

Β Matsyasana – maybe because I am Pisces.

Hmm, not sure, quite a few.

Β n/a

Travel, beach, horse riding, reading, relaxing.

Urdhva Mukha Svanasana

19. Any Thank yous?

To all my previous teachers – especially the first – dating back to 2001 in Taiwan.

How I came to start Myoga Travel:

I fell in love with Yoga 14 years ago.

I was dealing with a near-death of a friend and yoga and meditation helped me get through the trauma.

I have always loved travelling, studied travel and tourism and have worked for airlines, travel agencies and specialised tour operators.

After the birth of my first child, I was given the opportunity to work from home as an independent consultant, which was ideal.

A few years later, I decided my yoga needed more attention and I trained with Jim Harrington to become a yoga teacher. I had just started teaching in a few different spots and had some great private clients too, when I was approached to work at a new travel company, from home. It was supposed to be only a few hours a day, so that I can continue teaching as well, but soon I found myself putting in more hours than ever before, and even running the business for a month while both owners were away.

It got me thinking that I have all the skills and experience to strike out on my own. I thought about what I would like to specialise in, and of course, with my love for yoga and travel, it was a no brainer!

Since I struck out on my own more than 2 years ago, I have never looked back. I have had support form great people in the yoga industry, like my friend and teacher Jim Harrington. I help his students get to India or Bali when he does his amazing retreats.
