Yoga in Rondebosch, Rondebosch East & Mowbray

07/09/2016

If you’re a student or studied in Cape Town, you will be all too familiar with Rondebosch, Rondebosch East and Mowbray. UCT, the University of Cape Town, sits on the slopes of Devil’s Peak and can be easily seen from these nearby suburbs. Here you’ll find a hub of student life from all walks of life. From small cafes, take away joints, sidewalk flower sellers, student shopping requirements, innovative and small up and coming businesses as well as the world famous Groote Schuur Hospital.

Yoga in Rondebosch East is well known thanks to the Ananda Kutir Ashram, literally one of the first Yoga places started in Cape Town by Swami Parvathiananda and Mother Yogeshwari, commonly known as the Mothers of Yoga in Die Kaap. With their energy, vitality and love of Yoga, they have kept this ashram going for over 30 years now and have played a pivotal role in helping out in the neighbouring communities. You’ll find that most who trained to become Yoga teachers in the 1990s and 2000 studied at this ashram.
